Course Description

Wills Eye Hospital Meet the Experts activity offers the latest presentation of procedures, research, and diagnosis & treatment of an array of clinically important ocular conditions. This activity is composed of individual lectures from Wills Eye Hospital experts.

Learning Objectives

  • Clinically identify infectious scleritis and understand its primary risk factors and causes.

  • Describe and integrate the benefits of a surgical versus a medical approach to infectious scleritis.

  • Describe different treatment options for macular edema in patients with uveitis.

  • Discuss risks of intravitreal injections in the treatment of uveitic macular edema.

  • Review randomized clinical trials of steroid injections for uveitic macular edema.

  • Assess the efficacy and safety of new approaches in glaucoma management. 
  • Describe and integrate the basics of ordering CT and MRI for the orbit.

  • Describe and integrate how to interpret the studies.

  • Describe and integrate special techniques (CTA, MRA, MRV, FLAIR) that are useful in specific disease entities.

  • Diagnose uveal melanoma.

  • Detect high risk uveal nevus.

  • Protect physicians’ online reputations with common techniques to support promoters, address critics, engage in social media, and establish a positive internet presence; effectively address negative comments, which may otherwise ruin a physicians’ professional reputation, and practice success.
