10th Annual J. Arch McNamara Memorial Lecture
Recorded on Saturday, December 5, 2020
Program Chairs: M. Ali Khan, MD and Allen Chiang, MD Conference Description
The year 2020 ushered in a new decade, one of promise and one of new challenges. With novel technologies, therapeutics, and Phase III clinical trial results on the horizon, ophthalmologists need to understand how to incorporate these advances into clinical care. We will discuss the latest advances in the management of inherited and acquired retinal diseases and evidence for emerging new technologies, including gene therapy, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and robotic surgery. Moreover, the webinar will highlight special challenges affecting the ophthalmology and retina community, including responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Discuss important new advances in the etiologies, diagnosis, and treatment/prevention of eye diseases.
- Identify basic and clinical vision research that can be transformed into improved clinical care.
- Assess the role of new technologies in the evaluation and treatment of eye diseases.
- Describe factors that impact the effective delivery of the highest quality eye care for the public.
- Identify clinical, scientific, and ethical issues confronting the profession.
- Obtain information and tools through multiple facets to help ophthalmologists deliver high and efficient quality of care.
