Program Overview:
The overall goal of this activity is to familiarize ophthalmologists with the complications associated with cataract surgery and present recommendations from a retina service standpoint to improve surgical outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify common complications associated with cataract surgery, including recognizing a compromised capsule.
  • Recommend principles to apply during cataract surgery particularly when the lens or nucleus may be dropping.
  • Integrate the surgical techniques for anterior vitrectomy and lensectomy to prevent further complications.

The Wills Eye Institute is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
